12 July: Evolon Edge 5.3

Powerful PTZ zoom and tracking capabilities are added to the Evolon Insites integration improving AI accuracy.

Last month we released the integration between Evolon Edge and Evolon Insites, providing a comprehensive edge-to-cloud video AI solution. We've taken the integration further by adding Edge CP with PTZ support.

New

Send PTZ zoomed frames into Insites for AI classification

Added a feature that allows you to send PTZ zoomed frames to Insites within the edge camera pair configuration.

When you're detecting threats at the perimeter, distance matters; at a distance, a fixed camera is limited to its standard range, whereas a PTZ camera can provide a high-quality zoomed video.

With AI verification, a high-quality image increases the accuracy of alerting.

With this new feature, the PTZ camera will zoom in to investigate when an initial threat is detected. That high-quality zoomed image will be fed into Evolon Insites for AI classification and threat verification.

Overall you can expect higher quality situational awareness, threat detection, close-up video of the verified threat, and lower false alarms.

Stabilize PTZ zoomed frames for higher-quality results

Added a PTZ movement delay to hold each frame in position for at least one second to allow stable gathering of frames for Insites and avoid a jumpy UI.

Video AI relies on input from cameras. Overall, the higher the image quality fed into the machine learning algorithms, the more accurate object classification and threat verification results will be.

With PTZ cameras being notoriously jumpy, being able to stabilize incoming images provides a significant boost to AI accuracy.
